The NKFS Felictates Korean Volunteers

August 29,, 2008, Seoul, Korea

The Nepal South Korea Friendship Society (NKFS) felicitated volunteers who had worked as volunteer during the program ‘Nepali Cultural Show 2008' on August 28, Sunday at Everest Restaurant in Seoul. During the facilitating program, the president of the NKFS, Dr. Bhanu Shrestha presented certificates of appreciation to 10 Korean volunteers. The president, Dr. Shrestha gave thank to them for their help during the program and requested to participate in such cultural program or fair again. The general secretary, Mr. Puru Joshi also thanked them for assisting in the program organized by the NKFS as its first cultual gift in Korean society which was held in Munhwakwan of Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Korea on August 17, 2008. After the program, the NKFS treated dinner to all participants. Many Nepalese and Koreans enjoyed in that program. The program was supported by Seoul Global Center, Korea.

NKFS Organized, 'Nepali Cultural Show 2008'

Nepal South Korea Friendship Society (NKFS) successfully organized ‘Nepali Cultural Show 2008 with objective of introducing Nepali culture to Koreans at Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Republic of Korea on August 17 th , 2008. The program was accomplished with great excitement and fun. Mr. Yadav Khanal served as the chief guest at the program who is the deputy chief of Embassy of Nepal for Korea. The cultural show program was inaugurated by Mr. Khanal by lighting the candle. Dr. C. C. Park, director of Rose Club Korea, especial guest who has been doing social work in Nepal for more than 25 years, other VIPs like Prof. Nam-Young Kim, Ms Ahn Min Suk, Hung Min Sun, Young Kyang Chu, Lee sun Ja , and representatives of different organizations participated the program as guests.

Treasurer of the NKFS, Mr. Madhu Sudhan Atteraya gave welcome speech and welcomed the participants. He briefly introduced about the Nepal S. Korea Friendship Society as a not for profit, non- governmental independent social organization as it is the platform for social work and volunteerism. The deputy chief of Embassy of Nepal, Mr. Khanal thanked to NKFS for organizing such program. He said such program would promote for maintaining a cordial relation between Nepal and Korea.

The program was presided by Dr. Bhanu Shrestha, the president of the NKFS and explained about the objectives of the NKFS. He said NKFS based on Kathmandu has established legality to extend its working field with Government of Nepal. He said, “Not only for those Nepalese who lives in Korea, but also for those Koreans who live in Nepal should be facilitated by exchanging the information and mutual help. In that occasion he added, “Culture is vital thing and it does not have any border. Culture is a communication between person and group by exchanging feelings and information so that we can be intimate and co-operate each other for mutual existence.”

In the second session of the program, the NKFS presented ‘Nepali Cultural Show 2008' with the help of Nepali Korea Cultural Forum (NKCF). Along with mutual program, there were some other attractive events as well. At last, the president ofthe NKFS handed over the ‘plaque of commendation' to the president of the NKCF, Mr. Prem Gurung, for the excellence cultural performance and thanked.

The whole program was announced by Mr. Prakash Dhamala, the vice-president of NKFS and Ms. Jung Jisun ( Jharana), KOICA volunteer. Similarly, this program was well managed by Mr. Puru Joshi, the secretary of the NKFS. At last the program was wraped up by dancing and singing nepali popular song titled, 'Resham Firiri'. This program was conducted as per agreement between NKFS and Seoul Global Center.
